With a quiet week ahead of us on the racing front, our attentions are firmly focused on Kempton next Sunday and the possibility of getting 2010 off to a winning start. We are likely to have two representatives on the card, New Leyf in the 6f handicap and either Dominium or Edition in the 6f maiden for three-year-olds.
Much of the attention will be on New Leyf (pictured above), as with him producing such a promising effort after his break last time, we are hoping he will build sufficiently on that effort to regain the winning habit. While this is a higher grade than he contested on his last start, we think he will prove up to the challenge and should make a bold bid.
Without doubt the highlight of our week in racing terms came at Kempton on Sunday with New Leyf making a promising return from an absence of five months. The three-year-old son of Kheleyf has been the apple of Jeremy
The Sutton Veny Syndicate had a weekend to remember this week as their filly, Sutton Veny, stormed to the second win of her short career, taking the Betfair Poker Handicap at Kempton on Sunday afternoon in eyecatching style from the well-backed Space Station. The three-year-old daughter of Acclamation was given a well-thought-out ride from Adam Kirby, who was able to dictate a steady pace from the front early on before kicking for home and leaving the others with too much to find. The official winning distance was a neck but, as the Racing Post acknowledged, Sutton Veny never looked like getting caught. The majority of the syndicate members were there to cheer their horse home and there was plenty of celebrating in the winners enclosure afterwards. Jeremy feels there is more to come from the filly and the syndicate look to have more exciting days ahead of them. Some of the syndicate members are pictured in the photo, left.

Without doubt the highlight of the week gone by was the victory of Anne Of Kiev in the 5f handicap at Wolverhampton on Friday evening. The four-year-old filly has had her share of problems, however Jeremy has taken his time with her and she duly bounced back to her best to come out on top in a thrilling finish. The daughter of Oasis Dream was given an excellent ride by Luke Morris, who sensibly restrained her at the rear of the field as the leaders went off at a strong pace, angling off the rail at just the right time and bringing her with a storming late run in the final furlong to snatch the verdict in the dying strides. Now that she has shown that she retains all her ability, we are hopeful that she can win again in the near future. The filly (pictured) is currently for sale and more details can be found in our marketplace.

We have a number of horses running this week. Our first port of call will be Kempton tomorrow evening where the Resurrection Partners-owned Ivory Silk steps up in trip to contest the 6f handicap. The four-year-old (pictured) has been a model of consistency on the all-weather for us and while this will be her first time running at Kempton and at 6f since joining us, we are hopeful that what looks likely to be a strongly-run race will bring out the best in her.
30 minutes after Ivory Silk runs, we are likely to send out Running Flush to contest the 7f classified stakes. The son of Grand Slam has always worked better
